Many farmers will choose to buy conventional rice seeds, and some will choose to save seeds by themselves, so as to save planting costs. So how are rice seeds stored?

01. Do not store in sealed containers

Many farmers, friends, with sealed glass tubes, sealed ziplocks and other airtight containers to store seeds, in an anoxic environment, seeds will be anaerobic respiration, alcohol, organic acids and other substances, so that the seed embryos die, can not germinate normally. It is recommended to keep air permeable gaps or holes in containers or ziplocks when storing seeds.

 

02, can not be placed in high temperature environment

If the temperature is too high, the seeds will breathe more, depleting their stored nutrients and reducing their germination rate. It is recommended that the seeds be placed away from fire sources, air conditioners and direct sunlight.

 

03, do not put in a damp environment

Wet environment, rain will make the seed water content is too high, will also lead to vigorous respiration, seeds easy to mildew, rot. It is recommended to keep in a dry place away from water.

 

04, can not be placed in a smoky environment

The seed is fumigated by flue gas for a long time, which will reduce seed activity and affect seed germination rate. It is recommended to keep away from kitchen and other places where there is lampblack fumigation.

 

05, can not be stored with pesticides, chemical fertilizers

Because many pesticides and fertilizers are highly volatile, if mixed storage, volatile gas is easy to contaminate rice seeds, harm the embryos of seeds. Separate storage of rice seeds is recommended.

 

06, prevent mice, insect bites

Seeds are kept at home until they are planted in May. If stored improperly during these five months, insects or rats may steal the seeds, which not only causes direct losses, but also contaminate the seeds and reduce germination rates. It is recommended to store in a place where insects, ants and rats are not likely to breed, and to check the storage condition frequently.
